Just flew QF2 in J. I have to say that I think the service is not up to scratch when c/w other airlines that charge less than QF do.
No drinks offered after take off from either LHR or SIN. Food mediocre, breakfast this morning was a trolley service of muesli or an inedible roll. Galvanised me to think in future I’ll fly emirates metal on QF codeshares. I’m just not sure that Qantas is worth the premium ?
I recently flew J from LHR-SYD via SIN and the food was great and included pre-flight drinks and everything expected. Obviously everyone can have different experiences, happens with any airline. So far, I haven't yet had an "awful" Qantas experience that everyone regularly complains about here.
Flew both Qantas and Qatar J in the previous months, honestly, worlds apart. Qantas is sub-par in pretty much all aspects but is always one of the most/if not the most expensive.
I am only "loyal" to Qantas because that is who my employer has selected as their preferred airline.
I flew back from London to Singapore in J last Thursday. Drinks before take off, dinner average but wine with it was good. Breakfast before Singapore was good. I have found over the years that it is wise to have a good feed in the lounge before long haul flights.

You clearly haven't flown Qatar, Emirates or Singapore Airlines if you think Qantas food and drinks are great.
Flew Syd-Akl Return last week in J Class on A330 both legs, fare $2.7k late afternoon departures both legs. There were no pillows, no blankets, no bottle water in the seat shelving per usual practise , no menu , only one type of red wine, one type of white. Dinner was 3 choices , was very average, no salad , no starter , desert was a cake thing in a box. Overall substandard both ways , lounge in AKL no spare seats and showers not cleaned , was able to use EK lounge next door

100% exactly what happened with me recently. I will never pay for QF 'Business' Class on this sector ever again. What a disgrace. Qantas should be ashamed. They are taking us for fools par excellence.
My wife and I recently flew Mel/Fco/Mel, via Perth, domestic catering was poor and wine selection very average only one white was offered a Hunter Semillon. The transit in Perth was great. The QF International lounge at Perth airport was superb. Both of the long -haul flights were great, top-notch service, great catering and excellent wine list. The crew could not do enough for us on both of the international sectors.
Hit and miss just isn't good enough. QF management seems to begrudge every cent spent on passenger amenity. It's shameful. Think back twenty years to the goodwill in the Qantas brand they have now demolished. I'd sack Joyce and hire someone from SQ - but of course they won't.
