The point of lifetime platinum is that very few people can achieve it. If they lowered the threshold to 28,000 as you are suggesting, it would not be that exclusive.
Access to First Class lounges around the world, VIP service team (the best perk) etc is infinitely better than the lifetime gold equivalent perks.
My mother got to lifetime platinum in June after 35 years of flying for half the year every year. It is a reward for those who have earned it.
Vhojm, I think you confuse reward for incentive. The aim of
any status program, irrespective of whether it is annual or lifetime is to
encourage travellers to remain loyal to the airline. I suspect that QANTAS
could encourage more loyalty if life-time platinum was more achievable. Perhaps
not quite as low as the threshold set by BA. The current threshold set by
QANTAS targets a very few travellers who must spend half their life on a plane.
I think this sort of traveller deserves a medal of commiseration.

Also agree with sanj747. High LTP is a disincentive. I am LTG, until recently Platinum. My view now is that it is best for me to maintain my KrisFlyer Gold to have some benefits with both alliances rather than locking myself into OW only. My view would be very different if LTP was achievable.

Agree 100%. Im 49 with 20,000 status and a good 10-20 years of choosing who to fly with for business spending 20-25k pa. LTP is a massive incentive but not even close to worth trying to chase at current levels. If i was CEO of Qantas I'd like to think they want that sort of spending done with them.
I am Plat1 and have in excess of 68000 status points towards lifetime platinum, so I am not that far off. I feel it should not be devalued by reducing the threshold but what I do feel is that many, like me, lost out during the pandemic years so maybe consideration should be provided for those years. As an example take an average of the two previous years to the shut down and apply that to your tally for the following 18 months when travel was not possible. This year alone I have accumulated over 4300 status credits. Maybe even do a roll over of your excess points to get you started in your new membership year. Or another thought, why not provide status credits (not points) for FF tickets; Hilton do similar.
With your amount of flying, you should be given Lifetime chairman imo!
Granted there are those uber frequent flyer like yourself but I bet majority of FF who have reached Lifetime Gold will just switch especially with degrading Qantas performance and products/services quality of late.
Regardless, there is clearly a gap between LTG and LTP to keep customers stay loyal to Qantas. High flyers like yourself do indeed need to be recognized but I also find the average 'plebs' will need another 1 or 2 levels between LTG and LTP to keep their loyalty.
I am lifetime gold.. and have been platinum for the past 5 years. I think that a target of 45000 points should be their figure. Even that will to many for me at my age.

Asked the same question last year. I’m LTG and I’m chasing now *A LTG as for me LTP is unobtainable. I feel Qantas should have a LTP at ca 45/50k and then a LTP1 for 75k, as realistically you rack up 75k SCs only if you are P1 for 10-20years.

But for one of the two COVID years you were given SCs by way of 'statuskeeper' so I'm confused by your comment. As a P1, like me you were given 3600 SCs in the 2020 membership year, then for the following couple of years were given a percentage of SCs earned. So you weren't really that disadvantaged. Plus, why do you need LTP at this stage given your amount of flying. You'll be there in the next ~2 years and LTP really only is of benefit if your travel stepped down so much that you weren't going to earn Platinum.
Just because work pays for you to fly economy alot and achieve platinum doesn't mean you should be entitled to lifetime recognition. Perhaps the company paying for your flights should receive something but not you unless your paying your own way!
What a fool. 1st you have no idea about my work situation 2nd I never said I was entitled 3rd if you must know I don't fly economy 4th if you really need to know I pay my own airfares and 5th think before you jump to conclusions and know your facts

I know an old topic but surely it is time for QF to review its Lifetime Platinum threshold?
700 to make Gold, 1400 for Platinum, ie double.
14000 for Lifetime Gold, 75000 for Lifetime Platinum, over 5 times more.
By one comparison BA numbers are 1500 for Gold (its Platinum) and 35000 for Lifetime.
For disclosure I have 49000+ on QF, hence the grumble!

Maybe I'll decide to stop doing what I'm doing earlier so I'd have lifetime plat.
