Yeah, I liked the 'original' one a bit better, sometimes very tongue-in-cheek and always gave me a smile. Uncertain about this new one featuring an Aboriginal dance troupe explaining the brace positions via interpretive dance :P
I think both of them are pretty painful to sit through. I know it's now ancient by today's standards but give me the BA in flight safety video any time, it's short and to the point.

I'm worried about that part. I feel it doesn't make the positions clear at all. If someone was a first time flyer I think they'd be left confused.
I also reckon the explanation of the life vest location is still too vague. I'm not sure who approves these videos but I wouldn't be approving this one.

I'm not a fan of the BA inflight safety cartoon - annoying and disengaging.
The AA one from a few years ago featuring AA employees is best...we're glaaaaaad you're here.
Incidentally, QF had a similar video with QF employees - that's a goodie. Keeping it real and people focused.
I find that I have the same problem with the 'tourist campaign' type of demonstrations, where the message gets lost in the evocative imagery and I just end up disengaging entirely.
I'd be very happy if Qantas along with a few other airlines were to revert to the employee based approach (It's been a while since we've been greeted from the flight deck by John Travolta!) But it would defiantly give a more people focussed approach which I'm all for.
I rather be safe on the plane. Instead qantas is showing us a video that looks to be a farm and tradesmans acting as a plane with his farm and or car.. Not a very good way to show for your own sake and risk on board... Specially tourist who may not speak english and see this video they mgiht think its a documentary about australia outback.... Try figuire out the reason why everydays tv comercials in australia are always have to be some what funny on a product which i don't understand why.

That is the Australian way . I came back from Bangkok early this month and the video was played twice Once in English and once in Thai . Look at how many people pay attention when the safety is done buy the FA . most people keep on reading or talking

But that still shouldnt have to be silly a way to demonstrate the video. Its the law and procation to every airline to do it right because there are also tourist non english backgrounds they may not understand or be confused of this video. I didn't liked it aniways. I seen way better safety videos on other airlines. But this one by qantas is beyond joked.
Why humour? its the law and safety for other passangers all over the world that videos for safety no matter what people watch it or not.. its against the law to have a proper safety video for your own sake of the passanger. Not a safety video made to look humour and confusions.

I also prefer last years - there was some cross over with this new vid - maybe thats to be expected given the situational need...

It's definitely a downgrade from the previous safety video. It lacks originality and attention capture. Thumbs down.

I like it, it is not that original though, it seems like all flagship carriers now just make it an ad of there country.
