You chose the wrong airline for any favours ! Remember there slogan" you are the reason we fly " well it should be "we are the reason you fly"! Always said no even when the cabin was near empty.I wish you all the luck!
They may be allowed into the first cabin, but in my experience and as jinxy says, this is entirely at the discretion of the CSM. It doesn't hurt to ask, but you may find you need to wander upstairs to the business class 'lounge' area to share a drink with them - although that drink may be offered from the first class menu rather than business class (again, you're in the hands of the CSM).
So i pay a great deal of money to buy a First Class ticket on the same flight.I would not like to see someone from Business Class on a lower fare get what i paid for!You would find most airlines require you to go sit in the lower class for a drink.Sounds like Rkwm expects too much! It's not free seating onboard.
'Rkwm'...YOU have a choice..dont fly with them!!.....i totally agree with ALL the OTHER posters thus far..the CSM is accountable for everything that happens in the various cabins and it's usually OTHER passengers (usually F/Fers) who observe passengers getting that 'little extra' in ANY cabin, who complain to the CSM (or management)..so they are 'damned if they do...damned if they dont'...the 'little extras' are a PRIVILAGE..NOT A RIGHT..(maybe you have bad karma)!!
Great advice.... " I have a choice" never knew !! It's a drink and that is it ... A drink !!!!!! Happy new year ! I was the only passenger in the first cabin when I asked the same question and was told NO . There were no implications for anyone else as I was the only one .
Thanks for all the feedback. Only reason I asked was that I noticed the first class suite has a table and seats for two. But more than happy to head upstairs to the 'lounge'.

I am flying QF9 to London next month in first class. Can a friend travelling in business sit with me for a drink?

Be prepared for them to say no. Usually at the discretion of the CSM on board, but I've normally found it's a no.

Shouldn't you go down to economy if you'd like a drink with your friend?
