Has there been any news on the opening date of the QF lounge at Heathrow?

Apparently an Ausbt rep (I think) said they’d heard late November is the new target.

Yes, we're now hearing November (and that's this year, in case you were wondering).

Hope it's still easy to get into the CX FLounge once the QF Lounge opens. I'll be flying out of LHR late November so if the QF lounge is open by the time I fly I'll probably visit the QF Lounge closer to the flight just to see what it's like.

I do wish QF had chosen to do separate J and F Lounges at LHR rather than a single lounge space.

You should have zero drama getting into the Cathay Pacific lounges by dint of your Qantas Frequent Flyer status or class of travel.

Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge the only space available to Qantas was the one they've grabbed, which is the old SAS lounge (before SAS and other Star Alliance airlines moved into T2). This is a split-level space which simply doesn't lend itself to seperate first class and business class areas (unlike the larger and more flexible single-floor footprint of the CX lounges next door), and that includes the notion of 'business class downstairs, first class upstairs'.

When I asked a transfer person (at terminal 3) there a couple of weeks back they said it would be March 2018. I suspect to go with the launch of the new 797 flight.

QF has every incentive to open the lounge as soon as it’s ready. They’ll be paying for the space whether they use it or not and presumably passengers using the QF lounge will be cheaper than paying for them to access a partner airline’s lounge.

The new lounge in PER might not be ready when the PER-LHR flights start.
