Hi, when I try and upgrade my flight from sydney to melbourne using points, this si what comes up even though there is plenty of avaliable upgrades. Could anyone help?
I have had this happen a few times. Try logging out and then logging back in, if it still doesn’t work take a screen shot of the available upgrade and then PM Qantas on Facebook they have fixed mine up once before vi FB
If you can see that an award seat is available for that class and that flight, then you should be able to get an immediate upgrade. The suggestions made by the posts above should work. On rare occasions, I haven't been able to get an immediate upgrade even though I know a seat is available. In those cases, I phone QANTAS and they do it over the phone with no problem.
This thread was interesting b/c I rarely use points to upgrade from Econ. to Bus. and in fact did not know that one can look for availability to do that. I am aware of the ability to check for reward seats in general but not for upgrading. Is there a separate location to check for upgrade availability or is it based on the availability of a reward seat and that acts as an indicator that an upgrade should be available?

Business reward avaliablilty is the same as upgrade avaliability, if there is a reward seat then there will be an upgrade, but I only know thats true on domestic flights, not too sure about international
The immediate upgrade is only available on domestic flights. If you can see a business award seat, you are more or less certain of getting an upgrade from economy to business - and the upgrade comes through straight away. For international, you have to wait until just before the flight and the wait depends on your QF status. The best indicator of an upgrade opportunity for international is the number of vacant seats in that class (as far as I know)

Try cancelling the request and then resubmitting it - that sometimes works.

I had the same thing happen. SYD MEL. Had to phone QF res who fixed it on the spot. Some dodgy online glitch perhaps?

This isn't something new - call up and get QF to fix it over the phone.
