Looking for some advice on lounge access at Heathrow after arriving on QF1 and transferring to a BA European flight in J class out of terminal 5. I have a long layover (about 9 hours) and am wondering if it is possible to use the lounges in terminal 3 (ie the new Qantas lounge) and then transfer to T5 later or if I can only use the BA lounges in T5?
I am not sure the QF lounge wil be open but if so they should let you in. You could do a lounge crawl and let us know on each QF, CX, and then bus to BA (term 5)

The UK isn’t part of Schengen so there’s no customs to clear arriving into LHR on QF1 and transiting to Europe in T5 - just have to head to ‘Flight Connections’ for a bus to T5 airside and go through security. You only clear UK immigrations and customs if you’re not transiting and entering the UK.
I agree with moa999, with a long transit time... you’re better off heading into town. Unlikely they’ll let you up to departures at T3 when your connecting flight leaves from T5.... and the BA lounges at T5 aren’t that good to be spending 9 hours at!

The ladies at reception for the lounge were amazing, so you should be okay. But l did take an early flight to Spain one day and the BA lounge in terminal 3 was surprisingly good, so hopefully it mirrors that.
But with the amazing weather in England I'd head into the city too, especially if your bags are checked through. l lived in London for 7 years and this year was best summer I'd experienced.

If you are flying QF1 in F or J or have oneworld Emerald, you can use the AA Arrivals lounge in T3 and then use the train to transfer to T5 (or visit the city for a few hours before coming back to T5).
I don't think there is any way to access the departures area of T3 with a T5 boarding pass.

If you had status you could potentially use AA arrivals lounge, but you'll either need to go across to T5 and suck up a long stay in the lounges there (I'm not sure I'd do that even if I had Concorde Club access), or head into London for a few hours.
I don't believe inbound can use the QF lounge. Personally would head to T5, leave luggage and grab a cab to Windsor; lunch, walk around the town to stretch the legs and a pint or two at the Duchess of Windsor pub.

Excellent idea from Nick. Especially if the weather stays like it has been in the UK. Only point to bear in mind, depending on your flight times, would be that at peak hours, the relatively short return taxi journey could take longer than you might think.

I agree, take the train to the city or even go to Richmond and enjoy a nice walk in the sun and a gastro-pub lunch.
