Wondering if anyone knows how many and the easiest way to identify which Qantas flights will have Wi-Fi operating?
Taking the wife on a trip to Canberra to Perth return and if she can be connected for work reasons, we can get a day flight instead of a night flight and get more time in Perth.
Qantas only has one CBR-PER flight so you won't have much choice there. Weekdays it's QF719, leaves Canberra 18:55 and arrives Perth 21:35. It's a Boeing 737-800 and according to this article half of the domestic B737 fleet has Wi-Fi fitted so you have a 50/50 chance. Qantas doesn't actually list which flights have Wi-Fi on its website schedule because aircraft are swapped around the network.
Hi Max: Qantas should have its first WiFi A330 flying by now and p'haps a second too, but with 12 domestic A330s that's still very much a roll of the dice rather than something you can forecast or plan for. That'll change closer to year's end, when it'll be more a matter of "which flights don't have WiFi", but for now, getting WiFi on any domestic flight is a lucky dip.
Search up the registration of the aircraft your one and it should come up on somewhere like flight radar 24 go onto flightradar24 and search 737 flying between Perth an Canberra though the chances are that it has it as the majority do and its a long flight

That doesn't really help the OP until they get to the gate.
Unless you can postpone your travel till next year there's not a lot you can do. Even then it's possible that the inflight Wi-Fi could not be working on a flight on which it is installed for some reason (though hopefully that won't happen very often).
You can now see on the qantas departure list of flights, it will have a little sign next to the flight number and departure to advise that it was wifi.

Thanks for that James. So it's only the B737's at the moment, none of the A330's?
Yeah was thinking of doing the flight via Sydney or Melbourne, so we can get an early flight.
Plus extra legs out of Canberra to connect with the capital cities over the year adds up status credits.

Thanks David, l forgot to mention it's not until the end of October so hopefully should be rolled out across most of the network by then.

Yes, no real way to know in advance if your plane has Wi-Fi, sorry.
