Qantas flight - 45 minute connection time at Hong Kong?

Is 45 minutes enough time for One World connecting flight EK to QF into Hong Kong?

Although HK is quite good to transit in, 45 mins is tight given you need to go thru security etc. if separate tickets and EK don’t check you onto the QF flight, I’d say you have no chance making the connection, even if only hand luggage by the time you get through the transit desk then security, 45 mins is gone in no time.

Well. In answer to your specific question. We all have our own risk appetite, but for me that is way, way too tight. On separate tickets id want 2 hours. Too many variables against you. As pointed out already you may well not get your luggage checked through, which would

No. Just 'No'. Even if you were doing hand-luggage only, 45 minutes is still way too tight. Even if you didn't have to go through the transit channel from arrivals to departures, 45 minutes is still way too tight. Even if Hong Kong wasn't a massively long airport with the chance that your inbound Emirates flight might arrive at gate 70something while the Qantas flight may well depart from gate 20something, 45 minutes is still way too tight. Now factor in any or all of those, allow for a flight delay and given that the Qantas flight will already be boarding 30 minutes before its departure, and you can see why 45 minutes is just way too tight. 1h45m? Do-able albeit perhaps not with much lounge time. But not 45 minutes.

No way woUld I even contemplate it on separate tickets. What if the first plane is delayed? There is no way you could connect in time.

45 minutes is just way too tight and would not recommend it. In saying that I can highly recommend the airport and the staff in Hong Kong if you have a single booking with a connecting flight and the first flight is delayed.
