Hi All,

Kicking myself for not knowing this, but a good mate of mine is flying LHR-MEL (not sure what QF#) and is a Plat QFF (but assume she is travelling economy) Was given P status from family P1.

Told her to check in at the QF First counter at T3 and make good use of the QF London Lounge.

I am only Silver and departed LHR bound for Mel via SIN about a month ago but have QC membership.

I THINK it was T3.

From memory no FIRST QF lounge at LHR.

Question: WHAT lounges can a Plat use at the same terminal that QF depart from at LHR and which is best?

Cheers

The obvious choice would be the Qantas Business/First Lounge in Heathrow but she can also access the British Airways First lounges in the different terminals. I personally find the Qantas lounge to be pretty good but haven't been to the first lounges.

Cathay have their own little F lounge too that I quite enjoy!

BA, AA (although this one is closed for QF2), QF, CX and EK.

I personally prefer the CX First lounge, but lounge hopping is also fun.

Thanks all and especially jrfsp

does BA,CX and EK all have their lounges at the same terminal that QF2 departs from?
Is their a QF FIRST lounge? or is it just the QF LHR Lounge?

Thx!

They are all within T3, only CX and BA have dedicated First sections....

... and only the Cathay Pacific first class lounge is really worth visiting, IMHO.

A nice conundrum to have T3 in Heathrow has plenty of offerings for the oneworld emerald traveller:

These are the ones I have visited

EK - only on a QF first ticket or a QF codeshare on an EK plane

BA first - is really for Platinum travelers not first class passengers (the BA concorde room is in T5) - this is an old and tired looking lounge, nice champagne and food is pleasant.

BA business - similar to Qantas business lounges in syd or Mel (but has tarmac views), often very full, the hot food is nice.

AA business - the least luxe lounge in my opinion, functional though

QF lounge - new and sparkly! great gin bar down stairs, standard QF style food - nice lounge

CX first - nice quiet (small) lounge with tarmac views, self serve bar, some "finger food" in fridges and an adjoining sit down "noodle restaurant". Showers shared with business lounge and have Aesop products - I always have a relaxing shower here before heading home.

CX business - haven't actually been in there, first lounge is on the right before you get up to the business lounge so have never ventured up the ramp, but i expect it to be quite nice, just busy.

This is how I play them:

I generally head to QF and have a bite to eat and a couple of different Gins from the gin menu and then when I'm ready to just chill (quiet time) I head out of Qf and TURN to the right and within 2 minutes am chilling in the CX first lounge.

Just a point of reference if travelling with anyone else - BA and CX are very strict on the 1 guest rule and children count as a guest.

QF allows kids in (in addition to 1 guest)

AA used to go by the QF rules as they were the "Qantas Club" prior to Qantas opening their own lounge. not sure if they have tightened up.

Which ever lounge your friend decides to use, I don't think she will be disapointed.

There are 4 oneworld lounge areas in LHR T3. CX, QF, BA and AA. All, other then QF, have J and F lounges in those areas.
The QF lounge staff expect people will "lounge hop" (I asked them the last time I was there).
All of these lounges are next to each other, between gate 11 and gate 25. (you have to walk through this lounge precinct to get to the gate 13-22 wing)

Many people go to CX F for food, then over to QF for drinks.

I'm Platinum and always head straight for the Cathay First lounge and don't bother with the others. It's quiet, had nice views, good quality single malt, nice showers and the wonton soup is fantastic. Always a highlight on the way home.

I always use the Cathay First lounge as always quiet when I am there and table service food is good. Can easily sit back and watch the tarmac goings on for a couple of hours. I used the terribly tired BA First lounge (if you can call it that. Its truly aweful) until Cathay opened up their current lounge and have also tried the new Qantas lounge but very busy and just not a place for me to relax before a very long flight home.

I strongly recommend the Emirates lounge for the quality of the buffet and the free flowing Verve Cliquot

Pretty loyal to QF. However occasionally duck into CX for the Asian dishes of the day and showers.

CX F lounge is the all around best; quiet, great shower suites, a couple of different champagnes (which Qantas doesn’t make available for Platinums). Also the ala carte menu can be very good.

Still, I like to perch myself at the Qantas gin bar for a couple of drinks before the CX lounge. They have an impressive range and make a mean martini.

If you have QF Platinum status then it's the Qantas lounge for the gin bar and the Cathay Pacific first class lounge for everything else!
