Hi there,

Hoping someone can please help advise if there is a possibility for lounge access on arrival in Heathrow to use shower facilities.
I am Qantas Gold FF arriving on an economy ticket QF9.
Thanks in advance.

There's an American Airlines arrivals lounge at Terminal 3 (the terminal used by AA, Qantas and also some BA flights) but Qantas passengers must be on business class or first class to have access to this, so your better best would be one of the pay-to-enter arrivals lounge such as Plaza Premium, Club Aspire or No1 Traveller – a little Google searching will reveal which have showers and how much you can expect to pay, although the Plaza Premium lounge would be free if you have the correct AMEX plastic, such as some Platinum cards (see https://www.plaza-network.com/promotion_detail?id=4939808410959872 for a full list).

I was also wondering about this. I am flying QF9 business and arrive at 5:00 am local time. Where is the lounge in relationship to immigration and customs clearance?

The AA LHR Arrivals lounge has different access rules depending on the airline you arrived on.
AA, QF, BA and CX long haul business and first class arrivals all have access, while CX and BA Emerald pax can also use the lounge.

Turn right after exiting customs, around the tourist information counter, past the shops and towards the departures/check in area. The AA lounge is upstairs above the Bite Cafe and The Globe Freehouse restaurant

These directions are technically correct but the lounge is a little harder to find than this (IMHO). As you leave the customs area you pass through a small duty-free area. Immediately after leaving this you enter the arrival hall. There is a gap in the barrier immediately to your right. Go through the gap and head towards the shops, but just before you get there turn right and you will see a lift bank to your right - those are the lifts that take you up to the lounge.

It an excellent lounge, btw, with very friendly and helpful staff.

My wife and I will be flying to LHR in April with QF on a B 787 in J and it has been a while so any recent travellers may be able to assist. Anticipated arrival in the UK is early morning at 5.30 am and we are scheduled to fly to Barcelona with BA in J. shortly before 9.00 am. I understand arrival and departures are both in Terminal 3. Given the recent spate of delayed QF flights and the need to quickly look for a suitable lounge, can anyone provide any pointers?

Thanks for the reply regarding the AA Lounge. All I have to do now is check if I can choose my own time for the chauffeur drive.

So you are transiting in Heathrow, international-to-international, right? If so, forget the arrival lounges as they are landslide. Stay airside and take your pick of the BA, CX, AA or QF lounges. There are many reviews of these but you can simply try them all out to see which you prefer (because under oneworld access rules J pax can use any oneworld-operated J lounge). They are all in the same area and within 100 yards of each other so none is any more convenient, or quickly accessible, than the other. All of them will be open by 05:30 except the QF lounge which opens at 07:55

The CX lounge is very nice with the noodle bar, the AA is so-so... Haven't been to the BA lounge in T3.. but as BA only operate a few flights out of T3 (BCN is one of maybe 3) it may be the quieter option? But as the others have said, try them all!

OttoV - As others have mentioned, try them all. My personal picks would be the CX or QF lounges, but given he time you're there (and the fact that the best part of the QF lounge for me is the bar) you may want to go to the CX lounge. As an aside, you don't mention your FF status (if any), but if you are OWE then you can use the first class section of the CX lounge, which does do a la carte dining.

Yes you can, but you must notify them in advance (not when you arrive). The provider is Carey Limousine. Make contact 48 hours in advance via email: [email protected]. Also specify where you will meet the driver at the appointed time (they are happy to come to the AA lounge) as the QF Chauffeur Drive desk disappears after the pax from QF1 are gone (it's just a sign on a desk). Also give them your mobile number.
