Sydney's booming western suburbs will gain another upmarket hotel with the opening of the new Four Points By Sheraton Parramatta hotel in 2018.
It's the latest in a string of new Four Points properties slated for Australia, alongside siblings at Sydney's Central Park development and Melbourne's Docklands precinct.
With a price tag north of $80 million, the 271 room, 25 storey Four Points By Sheraton Parramatta will be located at 89 George Street, at the eastern side of the CBD and one block from the Parramatta River wharf for the city-bound RiverCat service.
More significantly, it will rub shoulders with the massive $2 billion Parramatta Square project in a suburb long touted as Sydney's 'second capital city' and the commercial engine of the western suburbs.
"The corporate travellers are key to what we do" said Starwood Hotels and Resorts acquisitions and development director Andrew Taylor.
“Parramatta has become a focal point of economic growth in Sydney, with significant investment in a range of building and construction opportunities and hotel occupancy levels reaching a new high.”
“In Parramatta, there are opportunities to raise the bar in terms of quality," Taylor added.
The hotel will naturally seek to tap into the region's conference and meeting schedule
Construction is due to begin early next year and take about 24 months.
Starwood is also casting its eye over a dozen other hotel opportunities in Australia, including Sydney Airport and Melbourne Airport.
