Here is where you'll find the new Qantas Singapore first class lounge
This time next year, Qantas' first class travellers and top-tier frequent flyers will be enjoying an all-new lounge in Singapore. But just where in Changi's Terminal 1 will the new Qantas Singapore First lounge be located?
As Australian Business Traveller has previously revealed, the lounge will be plant itself in the Terminal 1's D Gates wing, whereas today's Qantas Singapore Business lounge sits in the C Gates precinct. However, now we can show you exactly where the swish lounge will spring up.
The new Qantas Singapore First lounge will be constructed in an underutilised section of T1, adjacent to the airport's rooftop swimming pool and the short-stay Aerotel transit hotel.
This is located on the upper level at the very far end of the terminal: to orient yourself, once you pass through a the immigration and passport control checkpoint, turn right and take a two-minute stroll to the very end of the terminal.
Lounge-worthy passengers will ascend an escalator neat gate D41 to the terminal's upper level...
... walk past the entry to the pool...
... and the Qantas Singapore First lounge will be straight ahead.
Okay, emphasis on the 'will be' part – future tense, and all that – because work on the multi-million dollar project won't begin until April 2019, so at the time of writing this is a rather bland corner of Changi with chasms of empty office space, a staff lounge and prayer room.
But it'll be transformed from this...
... to something like this.
Qantas is said to be taking over the space on the left side of this corridor, which overlooks one of Terminal 1's arrivals halls...
... and based on this concept artwork showing the Singapore first class lounge's dining room, we expect the dining area to embrace that view into the terminal.
As previously reported, Qantas chef Neil Perry says the Singapore first class lounge will also adopt a 'food theme' in the same way that Melbourne’s new Qantas Business Lounge now features a Spice Bar, although Singapore’s theme is still being decided.

The location of the Qantas first class lounge puts it closer to the Terminal 1's D gates which are increasingly being used for Qantas' Airbus A380 services from Sydney, Melbourne and London.
We'll also note here that the nearby pool could be very appealing if you have sufficient time between flights – just bring your swimmers and book a three-hour stay for US$12 (A$17).
When it opens at the tail end of 2019 the first class lounge will take some pressure off the Qantas Singapore business class lounge by becoming the new T1 home for hundreds of frequent flyers holding Qantas Platinum and Platinum One status and their Oneworld Emerald equivalents.

The C Concourse is still the much more commonly used by QF. During the evening peak I tend to see that of the 4 QF planes (inc 2 A380s) all in at the same time, typically, at least, 3 are on the C concourse. Of course, this may change once the new F Lounge is built but the D concourse does feel the less welcoming at the moment with an almost LCC feel about it.

I’m told there’s a limited number of A380 gates at both the C and D wings, so it’s not uncommon for some of the Qantas superjumbos to be shuffled into the D gates depending on availability and the day to day operational needs at Changi.

In theory, there are 3 in C concourse and 2 in D but one of those in D is down the end (D49??) and exclusively used by 3K.

That part of the terminal was very quiet when I was there. I’ve used the pool. More relaxing than the current Qantas lounge between long layovers. First lounge is long overdue!

Agreed with the BNE Mexican Cantina, would be nice to see the Spice Bar in MEL have added variety. So far hands down the best is the Pizza Bar at PER

Still not sure why anyone would fly QF over SQ if you are going through SIN. SQ F is far superior in all aspects, QF is closer to a high end J compared to the new suites on SQ.
