The $15 million, 95-room Mercure Newcastle Airport hotel now welcomes business travellers through its doors as the first hotel to open within the city’s airport precinct.

With sound-proofed guestrooms to keep out aircraft noise, blackout blinds and a 24-hour gymnasium, guests will be able to work and live on their own schedules, remaining connected with hotel-wide wireless Internet and in-room smart TVs with Foxtel access.

Newcastle Airport CEO Peter Cock said that “today is a significant day for the region and having a hotel located at the airport is vital for the region’s development.

“The expansive network the Mercure brand brings to our region is huge and we are excited to be part of the growing transport hub that surrounds Newcastle Airport,” he added.

Mach One Restaurant and Bar will serve up breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks, while four conference rooms are available for business travellers which boast high ceilings and natural light.

As part of the Le Club AccorHotels program, members will be able to earn and redeem Le Club points at the Mercure NewCastle Airport hotel, which can be converted into Virgin Australia Velocity points from September 30.
