Fiji Airways launches new flights to Dallas

Fiji Airways is spreading its wings to Texas with the launch of flights to Dallas Fort Worth from December 2024.

Dallas Fort Worth (also known as DFW) is of course the headquarters and mega-hub of American Airlines, whose AAdvantage rewards program has recently been adopted by Fiji Airways, ahead of the Pacific island airline’s joining the Oneworld alliance in full member-capacity in 2025.

The 13-hour trek between Nadi and Dallas Fort Worth will be pleasingly handled by the modern comfortable Airbus A350, with 33 lie-flat business class beds and 301 standard economy recliners.

Flights will run three times a week – on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday – beginning December 10, 2024.

Dallas joins Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver on FJ’s network map, with Fiji itself also proving a popular stopover spot which in effect can deliver two holidays in one – or end your business trip with well-earned slice of ‘flop an drop’ downtime.

Fiji Airways CEO Andre Viljoen described the route as “a really exciting milestone for Fiji Airways, as we continue to increase Fiji’s connectivity with the United States and beyond, offering our guests more travel options.”

Viljoen clearly has his eye on growing the North American market, which today represents only 13% of inbound tourism.

“The Fiji-Dallas service will make it easier than ever for North Americans and AAdvantage members to holiday in the South Pacific, adding more than 1,000 seats a week from North America to the pristine shores of Fiji.”

However, the airline will also be pitching for Australians to book a US-via-Fiji trip, to capitalise on the fact that 47% of Fiji’s inbound tourism comes from Australia.

another 1,000 seats a week in each direction, to add to the DL BNE/LAX & AA BNE/DFW will keep airfares dropping, as demand cools fast.

So glad this has come up.  Will try to include this as a part of a RTW trip ...   Such a lovely airline!

Fingers crossed that they listen to the constant chatter on the various Ski Sites that complain/ object to classing Ski Bags as oversize and charge an excess fee. Even flying Business with only 1 Ski bag in total they charge an oversize fee. Qantas / One World do not charge an additional oversize fee for a ski bag.

I didn't know skiing was popular in Dallas. But instead of "crossing your fingers" that FJ has read those ski forums, maybe you and everyone else who's not happy with FK ski policy should be writing to FJ about it?
