Qatar Airways’ stretched Airbus A350-1000 is set to line up alongside the Oneworld member's Airbus A380 on daily flights between Doha and Sydney.

The A350-1000 will replace a Boeing 777-300ER on the Doha-Sydney-Canberra route as QR906 from November 1, 2019, with the QR907 return leg hosting the long Airbus jetliner from November 2.

Qatar's Sydney/Canberra-bound Boeing 777 already features the airline's highly-regarded Qsuites business class, which Executive Traveller rates as the world's best business class, along with a convenient flexible 'dine on demand' meal service.

However, the A350 is more spacious, more modern and much quieter than the Boeing 777 – a trio of travel-friendly traits which passengers will certainly appreciate on the 14-15 hour journey.

The Oneworld member's other daily flight between Sydney and Doha (QR909/QR908) will continue on the double-decker Airbus A380, which has eight first class suites and 48 of the previous-generation but still excellent business class seats.

Of course, the A380 also boasts a superb and spacious bar/lounge area at the rear of the upper deck business class cabin where passengers can while away the inflight hours.

The Airbus A350-1000 also comes equipped with Qatar Airways' Super WiFi inflight Internet system, which delivers a very useable 5+Mbps and includes the first online hour free, and then US$10 to US$20 for unlimited WiFi over the whole flight.

Qantas Frequent Flyers can use their Qantas Points to book onto Qatar Airways, at a rate of 159,000 points for business class from Sydney or Canberra all the way through to London, along with major European cities such as Paris and Frankfurt.

You actually need 159,000 Qantas points to fly from Sydney/Canberra to Europe.

This is fantastic news. 777's should be banned from carrying pax and only used for cargo. Qatar win their awards for the on board experience and to a lesser extent their lounges. The food, service, seats are second to none. Everything else is sub par - esp when things go wrong. If you're a Qantas plat/plat 1 forget any special treatment or recognition; you'll be treated like an economy class pax with no status. Won't even go into the less than friendly Sydney airport staff.

Couldn't agree more, I have had a couple of missed connections with Qatar and it was an absolute mess...in the air great on the ground not so much.

When will the Qsuites be flying out of Melbourne?
