Tomorrow is World Gin Day, and Qantas is getting into the spirit of the spirit with a special cocktail created for the occasion and served in selected international lounges.
Christened the ‘Arch Angel’ and designed by the Rockpool team who also develop the Qantas First Lounge seasonal menus, the tailor-made tipple is built around the Australian-distilled Four Pillars Gin.
Haven't tried Four Pillars yet? You're in for a treat. It's crafted from native Australian botanicals including Tasmanian pepperberry, lemon myrtle, lavender and angelica root, plus organic oranges and finger limes.
That's balanced out with Asian spices, cinnamon, star anise, cardamom and coriander seeds, and of course juniper berries to underscore gin's signature taste.
To create the Arch Angel you add Aperol, Peychaud's Bitters and sparkling water, plus a twist of lemon for a refreshing citrus hit and you've got the perfect apéritif.
You’ll be able to enjoy the Arch Angel from June 12 through to June 18 at Qantas’ Sydney, Melbourne and Los Angeles first class lounges, along with the Qantas Hong Kong and Singapore lounges.
From the entire AusBT team, cheers!

Tried Four Pillars in the QF First Lounge in LAX in January at the behest of the lovely bar tender - amazing gin - head and shoulders above Bombay or Tanq 10.
Be nice to see it offered in the domestic biz lounges...hint hint dear Qantas!

Speaking of local product, I'll plug West Wind gin from Gidgeganup in WA. Would make a superb addition to the Qantas lounge offering.

Four Pillars is about $75-$80 a bottle, roughly the same price as Tanqueray Number 10, but I find it much nicer!
