Qatar Airways plans Airbus A350-1000 for Perth, Adelaide

Qatar Airways will begin flying its Airbus A350-1000 to Perth and Adelaide, and savvy business travellers know what that means: more of those the highly-regarded private Qsuites, featuring everything from a sliding privacy door to a massive 21.5-inch HD video screen and superfast WiFi.

The Gulf airline, Oneworld member and de facto Qantas partner already plans to bring the A350-1000 and its Qsuites onto the Doha-Sydney-Canberra route from 16 November 2019, but Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker has now added Perth and Adelaide to the list.

“We’re going to start A350-1000 flights to the Australian cities of Perth and Adelaide," Al Baker confirmed in a media interview with AviationAnalyst.co.uk earlier this week, although he didn't specify when this switch would happen.

Executive Traveller contacted Qatar Airways for comment but had not received a response at the time of publication.

Business travellers can look forward to the superb Qsuite on flights from Adelaide and Perth.

Qatar Airways currently flies a Boeing 777-300ER to Perth, although from mid-December 2019 this will return to an Airbus A380 with first class suites as well as the superjumbo's exclusive upper deck lounge.

Qatar launched its Doha-Adelaide flights with the Airbus A350 in May 2016 – the route is currently served by a Boeing 777-300ER but will return to the A350-900 from 1 October 2019.

The Qsuite's middle seats combine to create a 'twin suite' for when you're flying with a partner.

In addition to these Aussie upgrades which count as some of its longest flights, Qatar Airways will soon reveal the all-new business class seat of its Airbus A321neo fleet, which will be followed in 2020 by the longer-range A321LR jets.

Al Baker has previously hinted at these being a customised 'off-the shelf' design rather than a fully bespoke product along the lines of the Qsuites, although he has alluded to the seat having "lots of privacy" – an indication that it, like the Qsuites, could boast a sliding door.
