Use Qantas frequent flyer points to buy a Spotify subscription

Streaming music service Spotify is the latest name to sign up with Qantas' ever-expanding frequent flyer scheme.

Spotify Premium subscriptions can now be purchased from the online Qantas Store using Qantas Points.

A three month subscription will cost you 4,900 points, with six months pegged at 9,700 points and a full year for 19,250 points.

Spotify Premium is already available at a flat $12 per month, although gift cards can be used to purchase shorter-term subscriptions at $35.97 for three months; $71.94 for six month and $143.88 for 12 months.

The deal is a world first for Spotify, which offers on-demand access to over 20 million tracks.

The Spotify Premium subscriptions give you unlimited, ad-free streaming access to the full Spotify catalogue on your desktop PC or Mac, smartphone, tablet and even home entertainment systems.

You can also sync playlists to your smartphone or tablet for use in Offline Mode, when you don’t have an Internet connection, which Spotify suggests is "the perfect music companion while travelling and flying."

I agree that this is a world-first, but while I like that QFF points are becoming Australia's second currency, I don't think this is great value unless you are rolling in QFF points.
