Virgin Australia brings shoe shine, blow dry to Sydney Airport lounge

Virgin Australia is doing its bit to keep business travellers dressed for success from head to toe with a blow dry and shoe shine service at the airline's Sydney Airport lounge.

They're part of the annual rev-up for Melbourne's Spring Racing Carnival, which also features a unique Hat Valet "which provides first-class handling of a racegoer’s most important fashion accessory, the headpiece, for customers traveling from Sydney to Melbourne, to ensure guests arrive in Melbourne in style and race-day ready."

But even if you're not flying to Melbourne for a race-day flutter, the blow dry and shoe shine are there for the asking.

Female business travellers can sign up for a free blow dry, hair styling and touch-up of their makeup courtesy of ModelCo.

The blokes can sit down and enjoy a shoe shine from Buffed, which is now a year-round feature of Virgin Australia's Sydney lounge.

Buffed supports people "excluded from mainstream employment" and provides them with the skills, location and equipment to set up their shoe shine stand. There's a small $8 fee, all of which goes to the guy or gal giving your shoes that special shine.

The whole package kicks off this Friday, October 30 through to Saturday November 7 at the following times:
