James I would try both. I suggest go to the Pier first and then the Qantas lounge as the gates for the Qantas flights are mostly close to the Qantas lounge near gate 15.

Unfortunately Sapphire won't get him into the Pier First lounge. Only the business lounge.

He meant go to the Pier first (chronology), rather than Pier First!
If you're travelling with dependent children then the Qantas HK option comes into its own. Qantas will let them all in under 18 years without needing a guest pass. Cathay needs a guest pass for each child unless they are travelling in J.

this will cause me some issues next year, travelling J with an infant I can take in my wife (only Gold) and Infant into the F lounges in HKG but as of November the son will be 2 so we'll have to go to the J lounges. Has anybody had any luck with getting a guest and a just 2 year old in the F lounge in HKG?

Thanks @Silentiger86. that was exactly what I meant.
Is it worth visiting the Wing business class lounge?
It's closer to the Qantas lounge and Qantas gates but The Wing doesn't do much for me, I'd more strongly suggest you skip The Wing and head straight to The Pier, which is a much nicer lounge in every respect.

I am flying QF118 to Sydney, with oneworld sapphire status. Should I visit the Pier business, qantas or both lounges. I will be at HKG for 3 hours

If you happen to have an AMEX Platinum Charge Card, do also consider the new AMEX Centurion Lounge in Hong Kong, which is quite a nice space. :)

I was very disappointed with the Qantas HKG lounge. An overly bright, claustrophobic space with poor food and drink. Everyone looked sad.

Yes it is open but it is long and narrow. Also quite full before evening departures.
