A French-language website at https://www.deplacementspros.com/Exclusif-Qantas-ouvrira-son-Perth-Paris-avant-la-fin-septembre-2018_a47388.html claims that Qantas will announce non-stop Perth-Paris Boeing 787 flights this month with the flights starting as early as September. Some more coverage of this, in English, at https://soperth.com.au/perth-paris-direct-qantas-20994

Reading that French article it's not clear if flights would be this September 2018 or next September 2019. Either way as it doesn't cite any source and isn't one of the leading news websites I would not rate it as having any credibility.

The french article states that qantas wants to make Perth a western hub with no fewer than 50 international destinations... surely not?

September 2018 is going to impossible without new aircraft being delivered. Maybe there will be some new route announcements soon to commemorate the upcoming PER-LHR service.

I think Paris was always the plan with the B787 so definitely possible but not sure when a start date is viable. I can see them announcing a plan such as Paris-Perth-BNE-USA.

For what it's worth: Qantas has daily slots available at Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG), Qantas CEO Alan Joyce told Australian Business Traveller in late 2017, but said that the next tranche of available Boeing 787 orders wasn't expected to be available for delivery until 2020 (see https://www.ausbt.com.au/qantas-to-fly-boeing-787-9-to-paris-but-not-until-2020)

The second article suggests that PER-LAX might be on the cards! Whilst that definitely seems like wishful thinking, it would be a pleasant surprise if it comes to fruition!

That would be a nice variation on the Kangaroo Route. PER - CDG - Gare Du Nord - St. Pancras (London).

They may have access to daily slots, but they can't use them. The AU-FR air service agreement only allows 3 "units" to be flown to the French mainland each week. A unit is based on the aircrafts seating capacity.
The QF 787 config would allow for 6 flights/week (at 236 seats, it is 0.5 units - 3 seats short of the cut off to the 0.6 range).
The current 4 787s are spoken for with the LAX/SFO-MEL-PER-LHR route.
When the next 2 arrive later this year, they are going on BNE-LAX-JFK. It is still unknown what the last 2 from the current firm order will be doing, but if they were to be put on BNE-PER-CDG, the flight times required would mean an evening BNE-LAX (like the timing for QF95 from the end of the month), which would then make the LAX-JFK flight impossible.

I don't think QF will have 2 spare 787 frames as they have announced the supplementary BNE-LAX flights, on top of BNE-LAX-JFK

And have to deal with either the RER or a French taxi driver? No thank you sir, I'll take one-stop to LHR any day of the week.

If QF are successful with the non stop QF9/10, could we see Air France/KLM or Lufthansa return to our shores non stop also?

I find this hard to believe, as Qantas won’t have enough 787’s. From reading above, they won’t have until 2020. Having said that, I do believe a PER to Paris route is in the cards for the future.

Much better to do Perth - Frankfurt as i am sure that a lot of Emirates code share flyers are destined here. Could also resurrect this via Singapore with a smaller aircraft.
