Qantas signs Aussie model Jessica Hart as

A fashion-centric reinvention of the Flying Kangaroo continues this week as Qantas brings Aussie supermodel Jessica Hart on board as the airline's first 'trend consultant'.

The Sydney-born and now New York-based Hart, who has featured in Victoria's Secret shows and Sports Illustrated shoots, appears to be a long-time Qantas fan.

She'll work with Qantas to ensure the 94 year old airline has a modern edge, in the same vein as Martin Grant's chic uniforms...

... and the choice of Kate Spade amenity kits and Aurora Spa skincare products.

Hart's role will be "to connect what’s trending in fashion to what Qantas customers can experience in-flight and on the ground," the airline says, "in an arrangement that will draw on her knowledge of global fashion and lifestyle trends to work on projects benefiting Qantas Frequent Flyers."

“Jessica will bring a fresh eye to some terrific initiatives we are looking at to bring extra style to the Qantas experience" adds style-savvy Qantas exec Olivia Wirth.

Hart's first project: creating a unique 'Feels Like Home' scarf with local designers Bird and Knoll to be launched in September and sold through David Jones and Qantas.com for $298.

Lots of people. But who is going to buy a $298 Qantas-branded scarf, that's the question.

That tweet's from 2010 when Qantas used to fly to Buenos Aires, in 2012 they shifted to Santiago (the hub of OneWorld partner LAN).

I suggest she didn't mean 'EZE', and that like almost all travellers she's tallking about the name of the city she's flying to, not the airport code. Not everybody's an avgeek obsessed with three-letter IATA codes :P

Bring back Deborah Hutton I say. Reliable and beautiful, like a good 747.

Yes! Someone should tell Qantas that if they want people to 'feel like home' when on their planes, they need Deborah back ASAP!

What's up with the tail of OQC? Surely there was one widebody at SYD with a fully painted tail they could have had her pose in front of?!

Why did they pay a model to design fashion? Models wear what they are told to wear, not what they think is fashionable. Its a bit like getting a flight attendant to fly the plane - they're vaguely familiar with the cockpit but actually have no idea how to fly it.

Why wouldnt you get a fashion designer to design fashion?
