Qatar Airways now serves caviar in business class
Taking the world’s best business class experience to a whole new level…
Private business class suites with sliding doors which become double beds, a restaurant-grade à la carte menu featuring ‘dine on demand’ meals, Taittinger and Gosset Champagne… there’s no doubt Qatar Airways has elevated the business class experience of new heights of luxury.
Now the Gulf airline is adding even more lustre to its five-star crown by serving caviar, that quintessential first class indulgence, in business class.
Those tiny pearls of salty roe are a delicacy more often associated with first class – but the same was once said for lie-flat beds, private suites, over-sized video screens and most other attributes which have steadily trickled down into the business class cabin.
Starting August 15, caviar moves to the other side of the curtain with Qatar Airways’ business class caviar service.
Available as a standalone option from the ‘dine on demand’ menu or as part of your full multi-course meal, the business class caviar service will be offered on over a dozen Qatar Airways routes to and from Doha starting August 15 – including Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Hong Kong, London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Dallas and Houston.
Travellers can look forward to enjoying 15 grams of Baeri caviar imported from the Caspian Sea, complemented by slices of silky Balik-style smoked salmon plus accompaniments of creme fraiche, finely-chopped chives, crumbled hard-boiled eggs and a lemon wedge.
Given the scale at which airlines exercise their purchasing power, this could make Qatar Airways the world’s largest airline customer for some high-quality caviar providore.
As previously reported, Qatar Airways will roll out a refined ‘Qsuite Next Gen’ business class on board its new Boeing 777-9 jets – which the airline says are due in late 2025 – with a new first class suite to follow on 777-9s assigned to premium routes to Europe, the US and Asia.

I wish Qatar would focus more on consistency instead of creating hype. They should start with the seats which can range from the QSuite to an ancient 2x2x2 set up depending on which aircraft you are lucky (or unlucky) enough to end on.
The same as this caviar service in biz. How many long haul routes do QR operate? And they are offering the caviar service on just 13 of them.
So one sector you could be in a nice QSuite enjoying a caviar service and the next on a 777 with no direct aisle access and no caviar service. Not well thought out.

I kind of agree, but to be fair, those are probably their highest profitability (especially AU!) or prestige, and these flights are also very rarely swapped out for the same reason.
QR are now in the same place as QF in that they can charge a significant premium based on their name, regardless of the actual value. Most of the time I am seeing about $2k more to Europe than comparable premium airlines like SQ. It is a long way from 2017 when I paid $5k MEL-LHR, not that it matters to me, I am allergic to the stuff anyway

Yes I agree. Their best is the best in the world, but their worst is nearly budget airline level. Flew with them recently from Melbourne to Serbia and had an amazing q-suite experience and then an ancient A320 with a recliner seat and average food.

13 routes to start with, and probably the most profitable ones and also ones that are a bit competitive so they want to go the extra mile. I'm sure there'll be more caviar on more routes as things go on.

To be fail this is not just QR problem. Especially annoying when someone carefully choose flight knowing that it usually server with particular business layout an then find at boarding time that (s)he will fly in far inferior setup due to "operational aircraft replacement"! No difference in price, compensation or even apology! Currently most notorious example is BA with very good new business and yin-yang one that was great almost 30 years ago. Airline charging the same money for completely different products and this should be banned - if you sold certain product it cannot be replaced without pax concern.

HI just completed a return trip with Qatar Business Class service and food was fantastic and yes we got a small serving of caviar as an appetiser, just a shame that don't give the same level of service for other aspects of the trip, misplaced bag that had a tracker I knew where it was just a different terminal at heathrow they wouldn't listen and took 13 days to get to me ruined our time in London as chasing this up and trying to get lost medical supplies

I wouldn't go out of my way to buy caviar but when it's being served on a flight, really delightful, brings back a bit of that 'golden era of travel' flair.

Even before the caviar, Qatar Airways business class service far outclassed anything out there. Special mention to Qantas...look and learn. Even your 'first' class isn't as sophisticated as this. I'd fly Qatar Airways J class well before I'd fly QF F.

Hi Traveller90, we asked about this and have now been advised the serving is "15 grams of Baeri caviar imported from the Caspian Sea".
